Music Magazine Front Cover Progress

The first change i have made to my front cover is the masthead. I personally didn't feel as though the masthead was drawing enough attention so i altered it. I added a black header bar above the original masthead with my chosen slogan for the magazine in white font and i then further added a yellow box going down the left hand side of the masthead with the published date inside it in black font. I feel that by adding these small details I have achieved a bolder and more eye-catching masthead that will help my magazine cover to be individual and stand out above the rest.
As i add things to my magazine cover I find that I am similarly following the layout and design of 'Q' magazine but also making it my own and adding my own touch so that the two aren't exactly similar.
